Jewish Family & Children’s Service

http://www.jfcs-stl.org

Jewish Family & Children’s Service was created in 1871 and is among the oldest social service agencies in St. Louis, a charter member of the United Way of Greater St. Louis as well as the Jewish Federation of St. Louis.

In 2015, JF&CS touched the lives of over 200,000 individuals from all different faiths and backgrounds.  We help people throughout the St. Louis area who are going through hard times, regardless of religion.

In the course of a week, we test and assess children for developmental, behavioral and learning challenges.  We counsel individuals, couples, families and children in matters of abuse, depression, anxiety, marriage, divorce and parent-child relationships.  We help older adults remain independent in their homes with the help of our homemaker program.  We provide pastoral care visits to Jewish older adults living in long –term care facilities, as well as in their own homes.  Our Child Abuse Prevention staff deliver presentations in local schools about sexual harassment, internet safety and cyber-bullying.

The Harvey Kornblum Jewish Food Pantry began in 1991 and grew from helping 40 families a year to serving more than 7,000 people each month.  As the largest food pantry in St. Louis County the HKJFP operates 5 days per week and resides in a new 20,000 square foot facility.

The clients served by JF&CS desperately want to get back on their feet and contribute to the community, but often lack the resources and skills needed to do so on their own.  By successfully addressing these needs, we are enhancing their lives as well as the quality of our community.

LaSalle Retreat Center

http://lasalleretreat.org

La Salle Retreat Center hosts overnight and day retreats for churches and schools throughout the St. Louis area, providing a place for programs like ACTS, Kairos, class retreats, staff days of reflection, service trips, small group retreats, and business meetings.  We welcome groups of all faiths. Last year 90 retreats took place at La Salle and we served more than 1,000 students and 2,200 adults. La Salle was founded in 1886 as a place of formation for young men studying to be Christian Brothers. Now the historic, beautiful grounds offer a truly unique place for people to find hospitality and peace. Nestled in the wooded hills of Glencoe, Missouri, and yet just 30 minutes outside of St. Louis, our facility offers a picturesque and awe-inspiring setting for a reflective and spiritual experience.

We believe retreat ministry matters because when a retreat ends, its impact has only just begun. People leave refreshed and renewed—ready to bring God’s light to their families, schools, workplaces, and communities, in a ripple effect that keeps expanding outward. We are grateful to be supported by many generous donors, whose contributions allow us to continue this work.

Mathews-Dickey Boys & Girls Club

http://www.mathews-dickey.com

The Mathews-Dickey Boys’ & Girls’ Club produces physically active, well-educated and hopeful children with family at the center of our efforts.  We help youth maintain and improve their grades, while providing training and funds to make college both an expectation and a reality.  We level the economic playing field by offering professional development resources to create better-prepared members of the workforce.  We use the arts, sports and health programming to encourage critical thinking, teamwork and healthier lifestyles.  More than 3,194 youth are impacted by direct services and another 17,000 with one-time, episodic programming.  All of this is accomplished through the power of partnerships and dedication of volunteers.

Our Little Haven was founded by St. Louisans Scott and Kathleen Hummel, who realized more children could receive healing care early in their lives through early intervention. Since 1993, Our Little Haven has grown from a single program serving 30 children annually to four programs serving more than 400 children and families each year.  We specialize in care for young children and families, and help them heal from behavioral, emotional or mental health challenges so they can be stable in home, family, school and community. Early intervention builds foundations for productive, healthy lives full of promise. Our Little Haven has shown that when children and families have appropriate treatment services, even those who had a very rough start can succeed. Without Our Little Haven, these children and families would have no way to access professional care and beat the odds.  “We will always be grateful for helping our daughter through her behavioral issues. She is at the top of her kindergarten class and she’s a happy little girl again.” ---a preschool parent.

Care includes Keystone Mental Health Services, Our Little Academy Therapeutic Preschool, Medical Case Management and Foster Care Case Management at the Taylor Family Care Center.  Great things happen when we care for children and families, Mind, Body and Soul.  Learn more, and donate to help more kids heal and grow strong at www.ourlittlehaven.org.

Rx Outreach is a nonprofit pharmacy that helps people in need.

The CDC reports that 125,000 people will die this year because they don’t take their medications as prescribed. Many simply because they can’t afford it. That shouldn’t happen in this country of plenty and why Rx Outreach was created. Started as a program of Express Scripts, Rx Outreach spun off in 2010 to become an independent nonprofit organization, to serve low-income people. As one of our client’s wrote, “There is no way I would be able to afford the medication I have been prescribed. This has been a very scary and stressful situation for me but now at least I don’t have to stress over the cost.”  .

We provide quality affordable medications for people battling cancer, diabetes, heart problems, and seizures, among others. Since spinning off, Rx Outreach has more than tripled in size and now each year more than 85,000 Rx Outreach people get the life-saving medicine they need.

Rx Outreach focuses on serving people who are low-income and uninsured or underinsured. People who, without assistance, would otherwise go without their medications or be faced with heart-wrenching choices such as buying food or medicine.

Your donation helps make medicine more affordable so people battling a chronic disease can care for themselves and their families. Visit www.RxOutreach.org to learn more about how you can make a difference for people in your community.

Rx Outreach… Affordable. Easy. Trusted.
